Okay, I have to admit that I had to Google caryatid…I surmised it referred to the female figures but as I am not our mutual blogging friend The Dancing Professor, I just wanted to make sure 🙂
I also thought immediately of the phrase referring to ‘carrying the weight of the world…’ which Wiki tells me kinda-sorta aligns with later male figures referred to as Atlas even though Mr Atlas ties to the celestial sphere rather than the earth…Sorry, I’m sure you didn’t need a classics lesson.
In other observations- strong solid powerful women as the masters of their own voice, bearers of words that speak truth, never to be silenced
