There may come a time when I no longer feel compelled to mark this date.
Maybe.
Maybe not.
Either way, this year is not that year. So here goes:

Today is October 7, 2015.
I am here.
I am three.
And I am happy.

How awesome to have 2 birthdays within a few days. Happy birthday. To be a wise woman and a toddler at the same time sounds really wonderful. all the newness brought by the latter.

Thank you! It’s been…not an easy journey, nor did it get started for reasons I would wish on my worst enemy. But the past is as is it — the present has come, finally, to a place that feels new, and strange…and miraculous.

For me the date is October 11, 1987. And I think this line is one of the truest and most haunting things I have ever read:
I pray the caterpillar cannot look forward. I am not sure the dream of one day flying can adequately prepare its soul for the dissolution first required.

I was looking up some terminology related to butterflies for that post when I came across the research finding: that if a caterpillar eats from certain nasty-tasting plants, then the butterfly it turns into will avoid the plant as well. I still find the idea of one unified consciousness undergoing such metamorphosis to be, as you say, haunting.
Know that I am celebrating with you, come October 11th. Every one of us who finds our way into staying is a warrior. And a poem. And deserving of great cake.

Mark the day as long as you want/need. To Happy LIFE…now go have a donut…I suggest jelly filled because it just seems like a jelly filled day to me, but seriously…do not wear white. White is a magnet for jelly 🙂

Donuts — mmmmm…
I’m more of a pastry-cream-filled kinda gal myself. Though that powdered sugar targets outfits just as hard as jelly!!
